For me, Tarot is a true companion: Always available. Always insightful. Always alert. Ready to offer guidance and many times an unknown twist on taking the next step. I am a curious person, interested in the back story- wanting to go beyond the obvious, wanting to live the fullness of life. At various phases of major decision -making or when I sense I need a change of perspective, I've used oracles like the I Ching, and science like Astrology and nature-based spiritual practice to give me additional direction. For the past five years, I've found Tarot blends all of those tools and creates wider understanding and reflection.

My curiosity about life, the milestone of pregnancy and birth- led me to the profession of midwifery. I have been a midwife for 36 years. I began while living in the Rocky Mountains attending home births for friends- studying what books I could find and volunteering at the Boulder Free Clinic side by side with a wonderful midwife mentor. Midwifery has been a calling to offer service to my community, to connect with women (families) at pivotal milestones, and to offer guidance on healthy life choices given the resources available. The richness of being a midwife in rural and urban settings, for farm workers to professional people has given me a wide perspective. Oh the stories we have shared! Each of us goes through transitional moments whatever our backgrounds and life experiences. We say in midwifery: With Women, through the lifespan. Indeed, it is so.
Tarot, reading the cards, is also a calling. It has redefined my purpose as a midwife: to offer assistance in the broad spectrum of life's journey . Wherever I find myself in my journey, my curiosity urges me to know more. The readings invite me into new understanding and at times challenge me to dig deeper, to know more. Tarot allows me to open up to the intuitive side of my brain after many years of thinking with predominantly a science-based foundation. Tarot has also offered more interaction with a wider community and I've appreciated reading for all genders.
My inquisitive nature has guided me into realms I hadn't consciously considered. I will continue to pay attention and build the skills and use the tools to evolve my style in reading the cards.Whether you have a light-hearted question to ask or are at a cross roads needing additional awareness, come shuffle the cards and see the story Tarot reveals.
